David Babb

David’s investment career spans almost 30 years working for corporations, municipalities, and families. He gained his fixed income expertise as a portfolio manager at Unum (formerly Provident Insurance Company), shepherding a $2 billion portfolio. It’s counter-intuitive, but he’s a highly entrepreneurial fixed income guy who loves to explore calculated risks to provide enhanced returns for nominal (or minimal) additional risk. His claim to fame is effecting a trade approaching $1 billion. He has added experience structuring municipal debt transactions and can tell several exciting stories about the nuances of that world. He joined Merrill Lynch in 2002 and co-founded Stone Bridge with Erik in 2011. He’s had the honor and privilege of serving as President of Signal Centers, only one of the many organizations in which David has dedicated time. David graduated from Emory University and holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He and his wife, Paula, have two children and reside in Knoxville, TN. When not commuting, David enjoys pursuing golf as a good walk spoiled.
